Are you a robot?
Captchas have a special place in my brain and heart and I constantly wonder to what extent they are the one source of an objectively accepted visual truth that we know. A truth that identifies us as humans.
In my attempt to capture this idea in relation to product design I have used the archetype of a captcha to question whether captchas are contributing to a more simplified design language that does not represent the diversity of existing objects.
The idea to be able to consciously choose the content that is classified as 'chair' for example gives us the opportunity to influence what we perceive as 'reality' and avoid oversimplification through artificial intelligence.
