Digital Literacy
I have created a physical book with tactile elements to teach digital programming principles in German primary schools.
Digital Education is the key to the future. Coming generations will be growing into an increasingly digitalised world.
Without understanding the rules of this complex world, these generations will not be able to shape it.
Through various collaborations with teaching staff I have discovered that the German education system is failing
at providing this education on a large scale.
The underlying reasons for this failure are a lack in computing teaching staff, -time and -material.
This prototype for a textbook addresses all of the above problems.
- It is independent of digital resources
- It offers elements for interaction
- It is accessible for language teaching staff
- It defines the content and interactive elements for tangible learning outcomes in German
primary schools
Having been affected by this maladministration I have made the connections between disparate sources of information and assembled
them in a constructive medium that facilitates the achievement of the set goal: Wide-spread digital literacy in Germany.
The test in a German primary school has shown that the level of communication is still too high,
but the interactive elements are working in the way that they were intended.
This project was realised with the help and collaboration of Melisande May (Primary School Teacher), Dominik Gargya (IT High School teacher),
Jasper Schwarz (High School Maths Teacher)
